More recently, my series of Grasslands paintings led to these invented pastel scenarios done in the studio. I’ve been inspired by many of Degas’ drawings- the depth of his layers of color, the confident strokes…. pastel is like painting without the liquid. These drawings are built with many layers of color, and a final fixative is applied when they are complete.
