Now that I am focusing more on vines and tangled things, I like having jars with various growing things spilling out. Sometimes, I do sketches, or even paint directly from them, ie: the geranium ones.
Primarily, the larger paintings are getting my attention now, but having growing things around, and drawing them always gives me options.
A lot of the painting process, after laying in the basic elements, seems to come to a point of editing and shifting. Today, I came up with the analogy of layers of choreography – it’s the dance of the leaves and stems!
It’s exciting to look forward to going to the studio nowadays- a sure sign that I am on a “roll” and momentum is building toward a satisfying body of work.
